Modelling using Gestures on an Electronic Whiteboard

چکیده
We have built and evaluated a prototype of a tool called Knight. The tool uses an electronic whiteboard a large, touch sensitive computer screen (currently a SMART Board http://www.smarttech.com). The large drawing space resembles a traditional whiteboard: Pens are used as input devices and several persons can work around it. Thus, it naturally supports collaborative work. Furthermore, the Knight tool is designed to use gestures as input, which makes the interaction similar to on a traditional whiteboard (see other box). Abstract The Knight Project

Work-practice changes associated with an electronic emergency department whiteboard
Electronic whiteboards are introduced at emergency departments (EDs) to improve work practices. This study investigates whether the time physicians and nurses at an ED spend in patient rooms versus at the control desk increases after the introduction of an electronic whiteboard. After using this whiteboard for four months nurses, but not physicians, spend more of their time with the patients. W...
متن کاملTool Integration: Experiences and Issues in Using XMI and Component Technology
It is impossible to implement one tool that supports all activities in software development. Thus, it is important to focus on integration of different tools, ideally giving developers the possibility to freely combine individual tools. We discuss how tools can be integrated even in the context of conflicting data models, and provide an architecture for doing so, based on component technology a...
متن کاملProgramming Education on an Electronic Whiteboard Using Pen Interfaces
This paper describes a system to teach programming on an interactive electronic whiteboard that combines the merits of classroom lectures using a black/white board and those of computer processing. Using this system, a teacher can write a program on the board, explain it, make the system recognize it and run the program in front of the class while keeping the attention of the students focused o...
متن کاملThe Mysterious Whiteboard
This paper raises the question of why electronic whiteboards are not ubiquitous. The paper provides a design-oriented analysis of traditional as well as electronic whiteboards in the context of collaborative and individual activities. We offer a novel perspective on whiteboards for collaborative activity based on a survey of the electronic whiteboard literature, a series of interviews with user...
متن کاملTool Support for Object-Oriented Cooperative Design: Gesture Based Modeling on an Electronic Whiteboard
Modeling is important in object-oriented software development. Although a number of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools are available, and even though some are technically advanced, few developers use them. This paper describes our attempt to examine the requirements needed to provide tool support for the development process, and describes and evaluates a tool, Knight, which has be...
